Now that we are finally preparing for a summer vacation. The most important decision must be faced: which destination to choose?

Well, the answer is, like all summers, very much linked to our tastes. And preferences but this year there is something more to take into consideration: the new coronavirus pandemic. Yes, because in choosing where to go we inevitably need to know if it is safe. The place where we choose to go to enjoy the sun, sea, mountains, and relaxation.

This is a list of ideal destinations to be able to choose peacefully. Here are the best places to go this summer from Italy: they are close, so as not to stay closed on the plane for too many hours. And above all, they are all in Europe so that any closures are in any case what our country would decide. But the most important point is that all of these locations have very few cases of Covid infections and therefore are to be considered the safest.

Greece

Greece has been one of the most popular destinations for us Italians for many years. Superb in the landscapes of its islands, interesting and rich culturally, close, cheap. And extremely attractive for those who, like many of us, love the sea. From today it has one more ace up its sleeve: it is among the safest places in Europe, and in the world, as regards the new coronavirus.

Croatia

Here is another neighboring country, beautiful and safe: Croatia. We know its beaches, its hills and we already know that cities like Zagreb, Pula, and Rovinj are splendid. Croatia has a cultural tradition that we Italians love very much, that we know and from which we are often fascinated, especially during the summer. Croatia is the closest of all these places: from almost all of northern Italy. It takes just a few hours by car to get to Croatia.

Romania

On our list of safe and perfect European tourist destinations for this summer, Romania is the one that we Italians tend to visit the least. Yet it is a mistake: for lovers of food, cities, and the mountains, Romania is a real paradise. And the costs are also absolutely affordable. This 2020 is the right year to recover: Romania is among the safest and pandemic-free locations on the entire European continent.

Portugal

Here we are at the last destination we want to recommend on our list: Portugal. Of course, it is not really close to Italy. But a few tens of minutes of flight are enough to get to Porto or Lisbon even with comfortable direct flights.

Portugal is not only safe for our summer 2021. But it is also a tourist destination with enormous potential: a sea different from ours, the Atlantic, with places that for surfers, fishermen. And lovers of trekking and clean air are considered almost unrivaled. They take place in Portugal, in fact, among the most important surfing competitions in the world.

But Portugal is also home to cities like Lisbon, whose historic center is considered one of the most beautiful and romantic in the world.
