Once you know the chosen destination of your trip

Do day-to-day planning of what you want to see, grouped by areas to visit as much as possible.

If you travel to a country where you require a visa and some vaccine

Ask for your visa well in advance if any problem arises, and they do not give it to you at the moment, or you have to return to the embassy or consulate.

The same with vaccines, just in case you had any reaction or side effect, and it is not going to be that later you cannot travel.

Check your passport or identity card.

We know it will seem obvious to you, but check that it is not expired and be careful as some countries require that the trip be made when the passport is valid for at least six months before the expiration date.

Look at the weather forecast.

It may also seem like a tip for your straightforward trip, but to think that, because it is summer, it will not be cold or take, for example, that in London it always rains… lest you later have to run to buy clothes for not having looked before what time is going to do in the destination.

Call or email the accommodation where you are going to stay.

Nowadays, everything is done online, sometimes weeks or months in advance. Unfortunately, some travel websites are not entirely reliable. So, to avoid disappointment and anger later, contact the accommodation booked days before traveling.

Do not trust that the email sent to you tells you that everything is confirmed. Any problem may arise with the reservation, the accommodation has canceled it, and you have not been informed.

If you need any assistance at the airport or on the flight

You must contact the airline at least 48 hours before the plane leaves, whether you need any extraordinary food, reduced mobility, etc.

Tips for your travel bag and if you have to check it in

To avoid running out of any clothes if you lose your suitcase and travel with someone else, or you also carry hand luggage, it is a good idea to distribute the clothes among all the bags, since this way, you will always have something to do wear.

To prevent the airline from losing the suitcase.

We leave you our advice for traveling by plane that, simple as it may seem, has worked for us.

Each suitcase we check-in, we wrap in plastic – everything is fine.  And we put around a label that makes it fragile, preferably in red or intense color. Being so striking, it is more difficult for them to lose sight of it, and when they are sensitive, they “usually” treat it better than the others.

We do not know if it is really for that or not -we would give anything to be inside. And see how the suitcases are treated. But since we do, all our bags have always arrived at the destination without problems.

Change foreign currency

As a tip to change money when you travel to a foreign country. We will tell you never to do it at the airport. The change is very, very bad.

As a general rule, the best place to change money is at the destination and in the city exchange offices.

Leave the necessary documentation at the accommodation.

It is best to take photocopies of all documents with you and leave the originals in a safe place, -safe box, well hidden in a suitcase, etc.-, to avoid problems and unexpected visits to the consulate or embassy.

Take out travel insurance.

We believe that it is the best advice for a trip that we can give you.

Many companies offer travel insurance and many types of insurance with different coverages. In our opinion, the most important ones to take into account are the health service, 24-hour contact in your language and your trip cancellation service or claim in case of flight cancellation, loss of luggage, theft, etc.
